An accomplished executive, Neil Alpert currently serves as the managing director of Potomac Management in Washington DC. Neil Alpert is also a co-inventor of a number of patents including the “characteristic verification system.” The technology allows smart phones to simultaneously identify counterfeit products and protect against identity fraud, an ever growing problem throughout the globe.

A patent for characteristic verification system technology, 9183688 was filed on the 19th of February 2014. The abstract described a characteristic verification system that comprises devices, security marks, systems, and methods that potentially could authenticate material goods and offer strong band protections. Essentially, this will be accomplished by any device (such as a smartphone) that can run a software application, and has a camera and applicable light source that can collect security mark information of the product to be assessed. The information will be tendered to remote servers for authentication of the material goods at different levels of assurance. Also, the system will be capable of authenticating users to ensure that each user can assess only authorized information.

“LaserLock’s new patent is uniquely well-suited to take advantage of the increasing demand for more effective, more economical and more efficient authentication technology along supply chains,” stated Neil Alpert, when he was President of LaserLock Technologies. “This patent is a possible game-changer for our company and our industry.”

Assigned by LaserLock Technologies Inc., the application subsequently was approved. The patent’s date of validity commenced on November 10, 2015.
